Why This Book
This book tells my life as a journey filled with various experiences, a journey that crosses both visible and invisible dimensions. At the core of the story, at some point, there are two main characters: myself and Dakota, two people as different as they are profoundly connected.
On one side, there is me, with a rational, scientific mind that always tries to understand and interpret through reason the inexplicable things that happen to me, until I eventually leave science behind in favor of the unseen...
On the other side, there is Dakota, my beloved, a man who experienced a deep spiritual rebirth after having intensely lived in the world of addictions and irrationality, and who, in the end, became a therapist capable of helping many people in a rational, scientific way.
The difference between us is stark, almost like night and day: I, out of necessity towards Life, will become fearfull and attentive to every detail. He, courageous and ready to risk everything, will always be capable of pushing beyond physical and mental limits in order to live every emotion fully.
Our differences push us to confront one another continually and are also why our love is so deep and transformative, though woven with a constant tension like those high-voltage wires running above gardens full of flowers.
The book alternates between real-life episodes, concrete and challenging situations, and extraordinary moments where the invisible makes itself seen. Like when, during his illness, Dakota surrenders to the intense pain, and I, with the help of meditation, manage to perceive the essence of life beyond suffering.
This experience culminates in an NDE (Near Death Experience), a profound near-death experience that takes us both, in different ways, beyond the threshold of physical life, making me see death no longer as a farewell, but as a transformation.
